📖 BACKGROUND

My current interest is in understanding how olfactory functions influence different cognitive abilities. Olfactory functions refer to the ability to process the sense of smell. Several brain regions become active when you smell something: the olfactory receptors will be activated, sending signals to the olfactory bulb inside your brain. From the olfactory bulb, sensory signals are “replayed” to other higher brain areas associated with smell interpretation, memory, emotions, and so on. I am particularly curious whether exposure to different odors would affect participants’ performance on reasoning tasks. My experiment is a standard EEG study (computer lab). Participants’ brain activity will be monitored via EEG during the experiment.
